Meet Cúrate Bar de Tapas Executive Chef, Angel Palacio’s favorite snack: Barreja! Barreja, meaning “mix or combination” in Catalan is a beloved Hora del Vermut spread, served both at home or in small taverns where small bites and vermouth are enjoyed midday like an afternoon ritual. The ingredients are simple: some high quality potato chips fried in olive oil, a combination of tinned seafoods (the saucier and brinier, the better) and a smokey aperitivo sauce.
Our new Barreja Snack Set brings Hora del Vermut home to the states, giving you a ready line-up of classic Spanish aperitivo bites to pair with a vermouth or any aperitif, or enjoy on its own!
 • Bonilla a la Vista  Potato Chips (1.76 oz)
A Galician institution founded in the 1930s, Bonilla chips are fried in olive oil and rightfully raved about for their crunch and clean, salty finish. They are the perfect crisp contrast to briny olives and preserved seafood.
 • Espinaler Mejillones de las Rías Gallegas en Escabeche (Mussels in Pickle Sauce)
Espinaler itself began in 1896 as one of those small, seaside taverns from which La Hora del Vermut originated. Large mussels harvested from the waters of coastal Spain, hand-packed and shipped straight from Galicia, Espinaler’s mussels in Escabeche are perfectly bright and briney, reminiscent of the sea. Escabeche, a Spanish sauce of oil, vinegar, and bright and smokey spices keeps them deliciously saucy, and helps maintain a plump and perfect texture.
 • Aceitunas Espinaler (Anchovy Stuffed Green Olives)
Espinaler fills plump Manzanilla olives filled with paste of anchovies harvested in the Cantabrian Sea for an umami-forward, savory bite that pairs effortlessly with bittersweet vermouth.
 • Cúrate Salsa Aperitivo
Our signature “everything sauce”: a vinegar-based condiment with Spanish Paprika, garlic and black pepper, carted to add a smokey lift to conservas and other snacks. Mild in spiciness, we love it for adding depth to any dish. This sauce is an absolute must have during Hora del Vermut, a touch of Cúrate that ties this perfect bite together.
Use this set to recreate the slow, friendly ritual of La Hora del Vermut at home. It makes a thoughtful gift for anyone who loves authentic Spanish pantry goods and the unhurried pleasure of an afternoon aperitivo.
